Pankow is not only one of the preferred residential districts for the Berlin population, the respective rulers were also drawn to the green district in the north. Frederick the Great gave his wife Schönhausen Palace and the GDR rulers lived for a time in the secluded "little town" around the Mayakovskiring. Bürgerpark and Schlosspark, representative old buildings and detached house idylls characterise the surroundings.
The tour also takes a detour to the neighbouring former workers' district of Wedding, where more and more artists are settling in old factory floors and where there are many interesting things to discover to the left and right of the Panke.
