The Danish multi-instrumentalist Myrkur chose her stage name carefully. In Icelandic, Myrkur means darkness, which is a direct link to their style and mentality. Inspired by Nordic goddesses and strong women of Nordic mythology, Myrkur's music moves between black metal, blackgaze and neo-folk. She weaves influences from Scandinavian folklore with harmonies and polyphonic clear singing.
The diversity of the solo artist is also reflected lyrically in her music. In her current album "Spine" she processes the experience of the birth of her daughter and the resulting isolation from other people. The album is an attempt to overcome this feeling and feel a connection with people again. In the spring Myrkur will come to Berlin to celebrate the darkness and the light together.
