Music festival with megastars

In September, the grounds of the Olympiastadion and Olympiapark Berlin will once again host one of Europe's biggest festivals. Since the early nineties, the US festival Lollapalooza has been thrilling audiences with its line-up and celebrity festival-goers. In 2015, the makers of the music spectacle ventured into Europe and found a second home in Berlin. Now, in late summer 2024, around 100,000 music fans will once again make a pilgrimage to the German metropolis to party together, dance and experience international bands up close.

The Lollapalooza in Berlin, which is only called Lolla by its fans, is one of the hottest festivals in Germany. The European offshoot of the American festival legend has been taking place since 2015 and thrills its visitors here with a colorful program.

Bands and stars give each other a run for their money, not to say the microphone, on a weekend in late summer. But the festival is not just a parade of stars: newcomers also get a stage here and inspire the young audience.

Apart from the diverse musical program, there will of course again be plenty of fun, adventure and whimsy on the grounds. Art, fashion, street food and much more ...

Lolla Berlin: Sun, music and entertainment

Once a year, the Lollapalooza takes place in Berlin. On a weekend in September, around 100,000 festival fans are then expected in the German capital. In addition to a top-class line-up, however, a whole world awaits the visitors. One of the highlights on the festival grounds, for example, is the wine garden, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the mega-event with a glass while listening to relaxed singer-songwriter sounds. For a contrasting program, head to the Lolla Fun Fair, where festival fans will find fairground hustle and bustle with street theater and acrobatics.

US festival with tradition

Lollapalooza originated in the USA, where it has been held since 1991 and now has absolute cult status. At the festival, the stars not only cavort on stage, but also in front of it. The prominent Lolla visitors set the latest trends in festival fashion here, inspiring music fans around the world to wear glitter looks and flower wreaths. After successful offshoots of Lollapalooza in Chile, Brazil and Argentina, there has also been a European edition since 2015. The makers decided on Berlin as the location, where the festival has been held once a year in late summer ever since. It is considered one of the largest festivals in Germany.

A special kind of festival weekend

Lolla Berlin stands for international stars and a varied supporting program. On two days in September, music fans get their money's worth. But the festival is also worthwhile for families with children. On the grounds there is also the Kidzapalooza, a children's festival world, where parents can also have fun.

Our tips

  • For all those who spontaneously get into the festival mood: At the box office, there were in the past often still remaining tickets for last-minute decisions to buy. But of course the entrance is cheaper for early bookers.
  • Unfortunately, bags and backpacks are not allowed on the festival grounds. Permitted are small bags up to a size of a DIN A4 sheet. So take only what you need - then you can dance better later.
  • You are not allowed to bring your own food and drink on the grounds, but fresh drinking water is available for free at the festival. So pack a small, empty bottle that you can then fill up on site.
  • There is no official parking at Lollapalooza. Therefore, travel by public transport.
