An evening with Livia Gerster and Ricarda Lang (Federal Chairwoman of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen). In the last election, more young members of parliament entered the Bundestag than ever before. Their generation faces immense challenges. Climate collapse is approaching, social upheaval is on the rise, democracies are threatened from within by right-wing extremists and "mavericks" - and now from without by Putin's deadly aggression. The newcomers hardly have time to get used to a life in politics.

They have to make serious decisions quickly, but they don't want to give up their ideals. Will they succeed in this balancing act? Or will they themselves become the conformist functionaries they never wanted to be within a very short time?

In her book, political journalist Livia Gerster follows the heels of numerous young parliamentarians from all parties. Among them are prominent figures such as Kevin Kühnert (SPD) and Ricarda Lang (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), but also unknown newcomers. A captivating mix of investigative political reportage and sociological generational portrait in the midst of the political turning point.

Livia Gerster has been with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung since 2016, since 2018 as a writer and editor in the politics section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.

Moderation: Stephan Lamby (documentary filmmaker and author).

An event by Literatur LIVE in cooperation with the publishing house C.H.Beck and the Thalia bookstore.
