For three decades Less Than Jake have been among the legends of ska-punk. Their fast ska rhythms have earned them a large fan base.
For Less Than Jake, it was clear from the beginning that the classic punk lineup absolutely had to be expanded by a horn section. When Goldfinger Schaub (trombone) and JR Wasilewski (saxophone) come on stage, they set off a veritable ska fireworks display.
What makes these five artists tick can best be measured by the energy and fun they exchange with the audience at their concerts. No matter if at sweaty club shows or exuberant festival performances.
The line-up of the crew from Gainesville, Florida, has remained stable over the years. Only drummer and founding member Vinnie Fiorello left the guys a few years ago in all friendship. Matt Yonker, who had long been associated with Less Than Jake as a tour manager and friend, took the stage in his place.
In all these years the quintet has released eight studio albums as well as several EPs and singles. Most recently, "Silver Linings" was released, the follow-up to 2013's "See The Light." A kind of sonic diary and a statement. Legacy? No, the guys are not that far yet. Better party again when they come to Berlin this summer.
