Guest performance: Kyiv Symphony Orchestra
The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, led by its conductor Luigi Gaggero, impressed us last season with their overwhelming passion for music. In this year's performance, they present a program that is characterized by classic-romantic splendor.
The Fifth Symphony by Mychajlo Werbyzkyj, a Ukrainian composer who stands in the tradition of early Romanticism and is also the creator of his country's national anthem, will be heard as a prelude. Also on the program are Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Schumann's opulent Cello Concerto, in which Ludwig Quandt, the first solo cellist of the Berlin Philharmonic, will shine as a soloist.
