a performative live audio walk on Benno Ohnesorg, street protests and state violence

During a demonstration on June 2, 1967 in West Berlin, police officer Karl-Heinz Kurras shot and killed student Benno Ohnesorg. The performatively designed live audio walk "The Kurras Complex" follows the traces of this event, which shook the foundations of the Federal Republic, at the original locations. During the immersive tour, the participants will be immersed in the atmosphere of political instability of that time via headphones.

Excerpts from historical documents about the death of Ohnesorg can be heard in the immediate vicinity of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Two historians comment on the dialogues brought to life by actors and offer food for thought on the causes of protest, radicalization and state violence. A clash of generations becomes palpable, while a field of tension between the old and new order unfolds.

"DER KURRAS-KOMPLEX" is a production of the Historikerlabor e.V. and is presented by TATWERK | performative research.
