Johann Sebastian Bach's MATTHEW PASSION is one of the most extraordinary and important creations in music history; almost three centuries have passed since its first performance on Good Friday 1727, but the Passion still casts a spell over listeners.

The performance by the Berlin Bach Academy aims to make the dramatic sequence of events clearer to today's listeners and involve them emotionally in the Passion story.

A high-calibre quintet of soloists, the Leipzig Vocal Consort, the Berlin Girls' Choir and the choir and orchestra of the Berlin Bach Academy, under the direction of Heribert Breuer, will create a performance of which one might say: This touches my soul.
