Johann Sebastian Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245) is a masterpiece of sacred music that was first performed in Leipzig in 1724. With moving musical drama and profound text, the work tells the story of Christ's suffering according to the Gospel of John and is considered one of the most important works of the Baroque period.
