An evening under the sign of Noruz - a new day
The regime in Iran responds to the ongoing protests with violence, arrests, death sentences and executions. At the risk of their lives, people continue to take to the streets to demonstrate for freedom and human rights.
March 20 marks one of the oldest and most important festivals in Persian culture: Noruz, Persian New Year, literally means "a new day."
The character of the festival as a ritual of transition from the old to the new has survived to this day. In this spirit, Melika Foroutan, Sarah Sandeh, and Jasmin Tabatabai are organizing another evening - with experts, music, and literature from and about Iran - after the solidarity reading last November that met with a great response.
