Bring your own publications. Swap them, share them, or leave them on the table. Spend the afternoon browsing through printed stories, recipes, drawings, memories, manifestos, and experiments.
Three publications will be featured throughout the day:
1:30 p.m.
German & English
“Mein Leben zwischen Grenzen” and “My New Life”! – In this book presentation, Benazir Hossaini tells her story: growing up between Afghanistan and Iran and her repeated attempts to reach Europe as a child.
In her books, Beni describes her journey through challenges, hopes, losses, and new beginnings. Through personal stories and reflections, she offers insights into the realities of migration, identity, belonging, and resilience.
The book tells not only of crossing geographical borders, but also of overcoming social, cultural, and emotional barriers. It invites readers to reflect on questions of home, freedom, and the human experiences behind migration.
2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
English & Spanish
“Charlas para amasar” – Ximena Gutiérrez Toro presents a DIY cookbook that emerged from meetings with Venezuelan and Colombian women in Cali, Cartagena, and Cúcuta. As they prepare arepas, conversations unfold about migration, borders, loss, resilience, and the many ways people rebuild community far from home.
Following the presentation, Ximena invites everyone to a three-hour gathering where cooking serves as an opportunity to share experiences and forge connections. Everyone will prepare the arepas together.
5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
German & English
“The Golden Oak and Other Stories of Resilience”—a publication by the feminist collective “Mädchen machen Druck” that brings together the stories and voices of 18 migrant women.
Accompanying the fair, workshops invite participants to print, bind, design, and publish their own works. Because sometimes the best way to spread an idea is to put it into someone else’s hands.
