TALK I #YERYÜZÜAŞKINYÜZÜOLUNCAYADEK
What was so new about the iconography and language of protest we witnessed during the Gezi uprising compared to Turkey's long history of resistance? How was it perceived by the contemporary art scene, which was then preparing for the next Istanbul Biennale, which focused on public space? The session assesses the ways in which the Gezi Riot and other protests by the Occupy movement have impacted arts politics around the world over the past decade.
As part of the 6th Berliner Herbstsalon GEZİ – TEN YEARS AFTER. A prologue in spring.
