The festival within the festival as part of Young Euro Classic
For the third time, Young Euro Classic presents a festival within a festival: under this year's title ‘FUTURE NOW – Tomorrow's Traditions Today’, six extraordinary ensembles from Bolivia, Indonesia, Afghanistan (in exile), India, Gambia and the Sami region will perform the traditional sounds of their homelands.

During the festival weekends – at 5 p.m. each day – musical innovation from different cultural perspectives can be experienced.
With the exception of the Azada Ensemble (in exile) from Afghanistan, which will perform at the Französische Friedrichstadtkirche, all concerts will take place in the Werner Otto Hall of the Konzerthaus Berlin. New this year are encounters – dialogues without words – between the FUTURE NOW ensembles and musicians from the Young Euro Classic orchestras.
They create an improvised musical dialogue between cultural circles and musical traditions – without any pre-written notes and with great musical openness.
FUTURE NOW kicks off with the Bolivian ensemble Dos Pares de la OEIN (2 August). Four young musicians from the Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos combine traditional indigenous instruments with modern forms of expression. Instruments such as sikus, tarkas and pinkillus are used. New works composed especially for this ensemble will be performed. Traditional melodies will also be played, providing insights into the lively musical practices of Bolivia's indigenous population.
