Book presentation and subsequent discussion

Power is the last dirty secret of all organizations, writes the American researcher Rosabeth Kanter (1977). This is based on the Frankfurt theater management professor Thomas Schmidt, who spoke out in 2019 with a large study on power and structure in the theater and examined the power relationships in the theaters.

With Ethical Theater he continues his research into the German theater landscape and focuses on a possible theater of the future in which power and aggression have been replaced by ethical collaboration.

With sustainable production methods, flat hierarchies and strong participation of artists in decisions, our theaters can take their own future into their own hands and better secure it. Because the future of this wonderful cultural technology, the theater, is up for grabs year after year due to the public sector's financial shortage, as the gradual transformation of the theater landscape since 1990 has clearly shown.
