Doris Knecht is coming to the Backfabrik and will read from her new novel "A Complete List of All the Things I Forgot". Here she writes about the life of a woman who is at a turning point.

The woman is the daughter who was always invisible next to her well-behaved blonde sisters. She is the single mother who always longed for more freedom and support. She is the hypersensitive one who always felt more than others. She is someone who hates change.
But something has to happen. Because her children are about to move out and she needs to downsize, clean out her old life, figure out what of it she wants to keep, who she wants to be in the future.
What is it like to start life over again? Doris Knecht's new novel is the deeply human and intimate self-questioning of a woman at a turning point. She is trying to find out the truth about herself. And at the same time she knows that she will never succeed.
Doris Knecht, born in Vorarlberg, is a columnist (e.g. for Falter and Vorarlberger Nachrichten) and writer. Doris Knecht lives in Vienna and the Waldviertel.
