Music theater after Luigi Nono & Peter Weiss by KGI
Luigi Nono created music by electronically altering historical documents and researched an artistic transformation of the incomprehensible; Peter Weiss developed his haunting and groundbreaking documentary play from protocols of the first Auschwitz trial: both attempts to rescue things for which there is no language from the sphere of silence.

THE TANGLE takes up Nono's musical and media style of representation. Based on this, hundreds of the original witness statements are acoustically condensed into a musical oratorio that tries to track down what is unsaid and not documented and let us, the audience, look into the gaps.
Remembering and commemorating are not the same as what happened. But can a new expression be found for what lies unprocessed in the gaps between memorial plaques, documentation and speeches on anniversaries?
