On Open Monument Day, fans of technology and railway history, both big and small, are welcome! The site and the historic locomotive workshop can be visited from 11 a.m.

The Schöneweide railway depot, the last almost completely preserved locomotive shed in Berlin, invites interested parties to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of railway history.

  • The 20-station locomotive shed, the turntable and the imposing water tower - a true railway idyll!
  • Let yourself be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of this 119-year-old industrial monument
  • Discover steam locomotives and wagons from over a century of railway technology.

The Steam Locomotive Friends of Berlin are actively committed to preserving this architectural monument of national importance and developing it further into the new urban environment. The renovation of the water tower in accordance with the monument's status has already been successfully completed.

Thanks to funding from the "National Urban Development Projects" program, the site is to be developed into a living technology monument and meeting place.

Since 2020, the railway depot has also been the official location of the youth construction workshop, which is committed to training young people in monument protection.
