Art of Survival – Everyday life during the Airlift. Eleven months with hardly any electric light, or cooking electricity and only a few briquettes - how did the people in West Berlin manage that?
The special exhibition looks at the everyday inventiveness during the Berlin blockade of 1948/49. She talks about vegetables in powder form, school lessons by candlelight, chickens in the living room - and about the risk of supplying a city of over a million people almost entirely from the air.
