Once again this year, the Cumbia Fest will be celebrated in Berlin as part of the Día de los Muertos programme at the Holzmarkt. A magical night in which the past and present merge through music, dance and remembrance.

Cumbia Fest - Día de los Muertos
The Día de los Muertos is about continuity: memories, traditions and rhythms endure through time and connect us across borders. Music brings us closer to those who are no longer with us and allows their stories to live on in our bodies and our movements.
For one night, the SÄÄLCHEN at the Holzmarkt will be filled with live music, DJs, performances, colours and sounds. The altar becomes a meeting place between worlds, between heaven and earth – a place to pause and reconnect.
The CUMBIA FEST represents Latin America’s sound culture in Berlin, a space where musical traditions and the rhythms of urban life converge.
KUMBIA BORUKA
With their powerful mix of Colombian cumbia and tropical sounds, the eight-piece band brings the sound of the Mexican streets to Berlin – complete with driving percussion, wind instruments, accordion and psychedelic guitars. Their music tells of migration, resistance, hope and the memory of what has been left behind.
iLLBiLLY HiTEC ft. Longfingah
The Berlin-based band combines driving reggaetronics and bass-heavy sounds with Latin beats. Together with MC Longfingah, they create an energetic mix of reggae, dub and electronic sounds.
DJs: Selektor Bony, Anacaona, Don Eule and Dr Calvera will ensure a long night full of music.
