Corpus Deliciti: Security, Control, and Freedom in the AI Society

On 1 October 2026, CORPUS DELICTI hits cinemas, a film adaptation of the bestseller of the same name by Juli Zeh. This provides a good opportunity to examine, together with director Lena Stahl and the chair of the European Ethics Committee, Prof. Dr Christiane Woopen, the social issues raised by the film.

CORPUS DELICTI paints a picture of a data-driven society in which health, optimisation, surveillance and scientific rationality become the benchmark. The film provides a space to discuss self-determination, technocracy, power and humanity – and how we wish to shape the relationship between humans and technology in the future.

The discussion will focus on current developments in AI and digitalisation: When do we trust technical systems more than people? How much freedom are we prepared to give up for the sake of health?
