When the heart burns: inflammation of the heart muscle

Fatigue, heart palpitations, shortness of breath and chest pain can be signs of myocarditis. But the symptoms are not always clear-cut. How does myocarditis develop and how can it be reliably diagnosed and treated? And how does the inflammatory disease differ from a heart attack?

Private lecturer Dr. Bettina Heidecker and Dr. Phillip Suwalski from the Clinic for Cardiology at the Benjamin Franklin Campus talk about comprehensive diagnostics and therapy as well as prevention and risk factors. They explain what myths exist and what viral infections or too much sport can have to do with myocarditis. In addition, they address other diseases that affect cardiac function and present current studies and the latest research findings.
