Anyone who was lucky enough to see British singer-songwriter Celeste live in 2019 at one of her first performances in Germany as part of the Reeperbahn Festival at the Imperial Theatre knew even then that this was a very big artist in the making.
Celeste already had songs like ‘Lately’ and ‘Both Sides Of The Moon’ in her set list, which perfectly balanced soul, jazz and pop, but above all she had this powerful, smoky voice that sounded wise despite her very young age at the time. At the end of her Reeperbahn Festival set, there was a standing ovation of a kind rarely seen. But Celeste didn't rush things and built her career at her own pace: her debut album, Not Your Muse, was released in 2021 and impressed listeners with great songs like ‘Stop This Flame,’ “Strange” and ‘Ideal Woman.’ In Germany, it reached number 6 in the album charts – and number 1 in her home country. It was the first time in five years that a female singer had achieved this ranking in the UK.
Now her second album is out: it's called ‘Woman of Faces’ and Celeste promises nothing less than ‘the best songs I've ever written’. Many of her fans will agree. So we can look forward to seeing how Celeste will bring this music to the stage on her album tour. She will be stopping off in Germany in June, playing one show in Berlin.
