In the early 1990s, just a few years after the Velvet Revolution, thirteen-year-old Karolína dreams of becoming a member of a world-famous girls' choir and travelling to America with the choir, just like her older sister and the other talented young singers. With her pure voice, Karolína soon attracts the attention of the admired and feared choir director Mácha. Being chosen by him feels like a triumph at first, but then Karolína begins to understand that this privilege has a dangerous downside.
Inspired by the case of the Bambini di Praga children's choir, the film explores the fragile boundary where innocence meets abuse of power.
The feature film by Ondřej Provazník premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2025 and has since been shown and awarded at numerous festivals worldwide, most recently with the FIPRESCI Prize at the Tromsø International Film Festival in 2026 and the Czech Film Critics' Award.
