Being queer and Muslim is often portrayed as a contradiction in public debates. However, the realities of life for queer Muslim people are diverse and shaped by different experiences, identities, and spiritual journeys. This event creates a space for connection, exchange, and mutual learning.

3:00–5:00 p.m.: Open session on awareness-raising and exchange for anyone interested. Together, we’ll discuss the realities of life for queer Muslim people, the challenges of balancing visibility and belonging, and ways to foster greater acceptance and solidarity.

Starting at 5:00 p.m.: A safe space for empowerment and networking exclusively for queer Muslim people. The focus will be on mutual support, sharing experiences, and exploring how to strengthen communities of solidarity.

The day will be facilitated and moderated by Atahan Demirel. As a speaker and longtime activist on the topics of queerness, Islam, and anti-discrimination, he will lead the workshops and guide participants through the various program items.

Registration information is available on the Ulme35 website.

This event, organized by the Queer Muslim Alliance Germany, is taking place in collaboration with the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf Democracy Office and is funded by the federal program “Demokratie leben!” (Living Democracy!) of the BMBFSFJ and the Berlin Senate.
