A group of actors with intellectual disabilities is developing a stage play on the theme of birth. The documentary follows their life together on a farm in the Wendland region and their rehearsals leading up to the premiere at the Berlin Academy of the Arts.

The protagonists’ unique characteristics give rise to touching moments of alienation, but above all to moments full of poetry. The label “disabled” loses its unambiguous meaning. A film about love, identity, coming of age, and the power of play.

Additional information
“This quiet, caring and deeply worthwhile film (…) does not make the world more beautiful than it is — but it shows how beautiful it can be, if one is willing to see, without false modesty.”
“The so-called disabled are refined connoisseurs of the present moment. Watching them reveals the richness that can lie in being different.”
Torsten Körer, epd Film
