New Narratives for a Diverse Children's and Youth Theater
On November 6, 2026, the Berlin Play Award for Young Audiences will be presented for the second time at the Theater an der Parkaue; the State of Berlin uses this award to honor outstanding plays for children and young people. For an entire day, the spotlight will be on playwrights whose powerful texts explore the realities of life for today’s young people.

Theater an der Parkaue
The five finalists will present their plays in staged readings—staged by directing students from the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. There will also be a panel discussion with experts and the playwriting award jury, as well as opportunities to interact with the playwrights and the Dramaclub, whose members served on the jury to represent a young perspective.
As the festive conclusion and highlight of the day, the award ceremony will announce the winning play, which will have its world premiere at the Theater an der Parkaue during the 2027/28 season.
The “Berlin Playwriting Prize for Young Audiences” is an award presented by the State of Berlin and organized by the Theater an der Parkaue on behalf of the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
