The connection between sacred music and jazz, between Orient and Occident, between jazz and classical music is a real feast for the ears with these three soloists.
- Arne Jansen, guitar
- Uwe Steinmetz, saxophones
- Anders Jormin, double bass
These three musicians are a stroke of luck for the music scene: on the double bass the Swede Anders Jormin, one of the most important bassists of the European jazz scene with an impressive artistic CV. As band leader of ECM he has released eight albums and worked with legends such as Elvin Jones, Albert Mangelsdorff, John Taylor, Joe Henderson, Lee Konitz and Kenny Wheeler.
On the guitar Arne Jansen, the two-time "ECHO Jazz" award winner from Berlin, who has played with the Senegalese Orchestra Baobab, the cellist Stephan Braun and Jazzanova and whose duo recording with Nils Wülker recently conquered the German pop charts.
On the saxophone is Uwe Steinmetz, who also lives in Berlin and who, in addition to his collaborations with Joe Maneri and Tord Gustavsen, has made a name for himself as a composer for the NDR Big Band and the Fitzwilliam String Quartet. In 2016, the German-Swedish trio performed together for the first time at a music festival in Gothenburg.
The musicians' extraordinary bond not only shaped their joint tour in autumn 2022, but also their new album "The Pilgrimage". Inspired by pilgrimages from different religions, they strive for a deep connection in a musical and spiritual sense.
