The Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra was founded in Berlin in 2006 and is now considered one of the most distinctive and idiosyncratic large ensembles on the international music scene.
After four acclaimed albums, over 220 concerts in 20 countries on four continents, it is currently an eleven-piece group with the flexibility to expand into a larger ensemble. It plays mainly compositions by founder Daniel Glatzel, which always transcend and expand musical boundaries.
AMEO draws from a colorful spectrum of jazz, traditional musical styles from around the world, avant-garde, independent and electronica - "but sounds as if it belongs in a completely separate sub-genre" (Jazzwise). It has collaborated with Hermeto Pascoal and Anthony Braxton, among others, and was the first ever winner of the German Jazz Prize for large ensembles.
