Gallery ART CRU Berlin is currently showing works by Alexandra Rothausen (*1981) from the imPerfekt Kunstwerkstatt in her first solo exhibition. The twenty paintings in a variety of formats, sizes and techniques are a series of mindfully abstracted portraits.

Alexandra Rothausen has been working as part of the 40-member community at imPerfekt Kunstwerkstatt for over 10 years. In 2013, the ART CRU Berlin gallery began collaborating with the versatile artist, who has already been presented in a group exhibition and at an international art fair and is now receiving her first solo show with "Gittermenschen."

The abstracted portraits of the people in her life and of herself seem like endless improvisations of the same old thing that never get boring. Through the bright lightness of her stroke, the drawings convey a refreshing spontaneity, as if shaken from her sleeve, and at the same time develop a touching depth in their ability to depict the human.

The exhibition "Gittermenschen" shows a selection of figures that make the artist's impressive observational ability immediately tangible. Drawing Rothausen develops impressive compositions, which gain their special attraction through a formal-linguistic-stylistic tension: they appear on the one hand fragile, transparent, sketched and at the same time contrasted, precise, through-composed.

Midissage: Wed. 15.03.2023, 5-8 p.m., Greeting: 6 p.m.
