Workshop participants will be introduced to several traditional dances from Burkina Faso, primarily from the West African ethnic groups of the Gouroussi, Turka, Fulfulde, Gourrmatchéma, Warba, and Samo.
Through short choreographed sequences, participants will observe and practice together how traditional styles are integrated into Afro-urban expression.
Powerful rhythms and varied tempos blend with the zest for life of Burkina Faso. The deconstruction of African dance as an Afro-urban expression fuses contemporary and traditional styles, including street dance, mask dance, and modern dance.
