- Museum Island in Berlin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to spectacular art treasures, is celebrating an anniversary: 200 years ago, the history of this globally unique ensemble of buildings, surrounded by the River Spree in the heart of Berlin, began. Over five years, five major museums will be hosting fascinating special exhibitions and events.

Five-year anniversary, with a different museum taking centre stage each year: In 2025, the Altes Museum (1) celebrated the laying of the foundation stone. This year the focus is on the Alte Nationalgalerie (3) and from 2027 you can once again see the world-famous Pergamon Altar in the Pergamonmuseum (4)! 2028 sees the Neues Museum (5) celebrate the start of construction 185 years ago and 2029 sees the Bode Museum (6) take centre stage.
