Discover the secrets of fertile soil: build up nutrient-rich soil using simple methods! This hands-on workshop explains how composting works, which materials are suitable, and how to turn kitchen or garden waste into valuable humus.

It will also cover how healthy soil strengthens plants, retains water and naturally keeps pests at bay.


Possible topics – tailored to participants’ interests:

a brief introduction to soil structure, nutrient cycles and beneficial decomposers a guide to composting (hot vs. cold compost, bokashi, vermicompost, worm bin, surface composting)


Setting up a compost heap, layering, checking moisture and aeration (using the on-site compost)


Useful composting aids Tips on soil improvement: mulching, green manure, natural soil enhancers

Identifying and avoiding mistakes: odours, mould, pests
