Hotel Grenzfall in the Brunnenviertel
In the middle of the diverse centre-north
Northern Berlin-Mitte offers a diverse mix of historic sites, green oases, neighbourhood culture and international cuisine. Located right next to the former Berlin Wall, the Hotel Grenzfall is Berlin-Mitte's first inclusive hotel and an excellent starting point for exploring the diverse and exciting neighbourhood without having to cover long distances.
Relaxation and Recovery in Berlin-Mitte

The Hotel Grenzfall, certified as handicapped accessible by ‘Reisen für Alle’, is a quiet and modern retreat in Berlin-Mitte. The stylishly furnished rooms are equipped with LCD TV, telephone, room safe and Internet access via LAN and WLAN. In addition, the orientation of the rooms towards a quiet residential street promises undisturbed sleep. The ‘Reisen für Alle’ project evaluates accommodation and excursion ideas according to their suitability for people with impairments. Accessibility was also tested at the Grenzfall inclusion hotel. Access to the hotel is step-free and there are several rooms available that are suitable for people with reduced mobility. In addition, many sights in the surrounding area are also handicapped accessible.
The hotel restaurant welcomes you for breakfast on the idyllic terrace in fine weather, otherwise you can also take a seat in the bright, friendly indoor area. You can also fortify yourself for your excursions with typical Berlin specialities and other snacks in the modern Grenzfall bistro. The hotel's beautiful 3,000 square metre garden is a special highlight, especially in summer: The green oasis with goldfish pond in the middle of the city was awarded the Berliner Umweltpreis as far back as 1997. Here you can treat yourself to a short break or spend sociable summer evenings.
Explore Berlin history and neighbourhood culture from the Hotel Grenzfall
Its location in the immediate vicinity of the Berlin Wall Documentation Centre makes the Hotel Grenzfall an ideal choice for exploring Berlin's eventful history. Only a few metres away from the hotel, on Bernauer Straße, you can still see remnants of the Berlin Wall. Not far from here is the Berlin Wall Memorial Visitor Centre. There is an extensive exhibition on the division of Berlin from 1961 to 1989, and inclusive guided tours are also offered regularly.
Just south of Bernauer Straße, Invalidenstraße leads to the Museum für Naturkunde, Germany's largest natural history museum, after only about 500 metres. The museum is also certified by ‘Reisen für Alle’ and displays an impressive variety of fossils and other exhibits, including large dinosaur skeletons.
To the north of Bernauer Straße is the extensive park at Nordbahnhof - A welcome change from the densely built-up city centre. There are also various sports and leisure facilities for the summer months, such as the BeachMitte beach volleyball court and the MountMitte high ropes course.
From the Hotel Grenzfall, you will also find the neighbourhood around Torstraße, Linienstraße and Auguststraße about one kilometre to the south. Linienstraße and Auguststraße in particular are home to numerous galleries of local artists, which, together with the many cafés, exude a Mediterranean lifestyle in summer. If you follow Ackerstraße again to the north-west, you will come across the 19th-century Liesenbrücken bridges. Trains once left the Siemens and AEG factories over these bridges. These are located a little further east and are now used as a technology park.
Creative culinary highlights in the surrounding area
The Berlin-Mitte district is rightly known for the multifaceted nature of its culinary offerings. On Brunnenstraße, for example, you will find the CHIMNEYS café, which serves temptingly sweet, vegan chimney cakes. On Anklamer Straße, the warm, friendly and stylish restaurant heimlichTreu serves creative dishes with a seasonally-changing menu. Wheelchair access makes it easier for people with limited mobility to enter. You can also feel the extraordinary charm of the Mitte district at the handicapped accessible restaurant Katz Orange on the Bergstraße: Regional and seasonal slow food is served here at a historic brewery site. Around Oranienstraße, Torstraße and Auguststraße there are numerous other interesting cafés and restaurants serving vegetarian, Mediterranean and international cuisine.
