STRouX: Three openings on one evening

In cooperation with STRouX, artspring berlin is presenting the WINTER SLEEPERS exhibition series. Three artistic positions are on display that deal with spatial, temporal and visual dimensions in different ways.

For the first opening, the works of Gaby Taplick, Jelka Plate and Sharon Paz were selected, each of which will be shown in its own box.

Box B: "completely tight, nearly" by Gaby Taplick

In one of the three boxes, an installation made of collected and found cupboard parts has taken up space. It takes up the areas and dimensions of the windows in an architecturally proportional manner. The material of our affluent society merges memory with the present. Gaby Taplik studied fine art at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences under Prof. Bernhard Garbert and Wolfgang Bulla.

Box C: "Winter Sleep" by Jelka Plate

Dormouse, hamster, marmot and hedgehog costumes come from a theater production, all animals that hibernate and have thick fur. Characteristics that would also suit us humans well in the wake of climate change. Videos of people hibernating and a "lazy diary" invite us to deal with radical passivity and think about adaptation as a strategy for the future. Jelka Plate studied fine art and stage design at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts.

Loge D: "If you look out of the window, what do you see?" by Sharon Paz

A real window, a projection, a slide show with AI-generated images. The dialogue between AI and humans creates a new environment in which landscapes and distorted architecture meet. Like a screensaver, the views constantly change and play with the perception of reality. Sharon Paz lives and works in Berlin. She completed her studies with an MFA at Hunter College in New York. Her works have been shown at the Weserburg, Bremen, and at the Transmediale in Berlin, among others.

Opening: January 9th, 7 p.m., 8 p.m. introduction
