ZEAN CABANGIS & JC JACINTO

Together, artists JC Jacinto and Zean Cabangis ponder the relationship between people and place. Observing, discovering, documenting and constructing their immediate environment blurs the boundaries between space and being. Immersion in place becomes immersion in thought, and within these thoughts, new places emerge. JC Jacinto invents places he would like to inhabit. He creates paintings based on photographs of crystals that he views through a digital microscope. In his work, he experiments with petrified wood, plastiglomerates, mycelium, and biowaste. While Jacinto looks downward for his works, Zean Cabangis' gaze seems to be directed upward. Cabangis' latest work is almost devoid of artificial structures and is dominated by painterly techniques. His paintings, covered with photo transfers, have become more abstract and expressive.
