Wolfgang Rihm, one of Europe’s most renowned
contemporary composers, celebrates his 70th birthday in 2022. In his
honour, the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin will present the result of his investigative
work. His extensive archive comprises works from his earliest creative period
in which his later mastery already shines through. Several of those works have
not premiered until today, as for example the motet from an uncompleted cycle
about the Passiontide. Furthermore, an early Stabat mater and Crucifixus invite to an expedition into Rihm’s early work. The medieval church in
Alt-Tempelhof will provide the proper atmosphere for the concentrated
liturgical works.
