In a solo exhibition, Vorona Galerie is showing paintings and graphic works by the Cologne artist Gabriel, including large-format paintings from the last two years.
The exhibition title, which refers to a neologism by the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, outlines the theme: Rilke's formula "Weltinnenraum" marks the capacity of human consciousness, the holographic awareness of all "realities" focused in the subject. A work of art, in turn, reflects subjective world interior space back into the material world, where it can be perceived, communicated, negotiated as a message. "For me, the artistic act is the magical place where alone the reconciliation of all realities can be accomplished by giving equal weight to each aspect (equal-weight). In this respect, every artistic act (using the pars pro toto) is a precipitation from the artist's "inner world space", says Gabriel.
Born in Cologne in 1960, Gabriel began studying philosophy in 1978, but later decided to study at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Since 1983, Gabriel has had her own art studio in Cologne, where she developed her work but did not make it accessible to the public until 2019. This long period of seclusion and separation fostered an oeuvre of particular integrity and depth. Gabriel's participation in a group exhibition in Berlin in 2019 marks the beginning of her successful path on the art market.
Vorona Gallery invites you to the vernissage of the exhibition "Weltinnenräume" by the Cologne artist Gabriel on 20 May 2022 at 6 pm.
