Water, Waves, Resistance: How a Berlin Rowing Club Defied the Nazis

A club that, since its founding, welcomed "every person of good character, regardless of politics or religion" – and whose non-Jewish members made a memorable – in retrospect, unique – decision in 1933. An encouraging story of courage and lifelong solidarity, of those in hiding, renamed boats, and the longing of former Berliners for their city will be told.


The evening will be accompanied by songs about sailors, the sea, and ships, about Wannsee and Berlin.
