The traditional format of the musical-literary salons is taken up and reinterpreted by Vocations. The salon opens the doors for contemporary poetry and new music in Berlin and creates space for getting to know each other better. It offers a platform for transdisciplinary exchange and spontaneous artistic interventions.
The event features artists such as Avrina Prabala-Joslin (born 1992 in Tamil Nadu), Sol-i So (born 1990 in South Korea), VictorPiano (born 1991 in Chile) and Felipe Sáez Riquelme (born 1986 in Chile). As part of the Vocations series, these artists have developed new experimental art songs in close artistic collaboration between poets and composers. These works will be premiered at the end of October in the Heimathafen Neukölln. At this event, they provide an insight into their work and the joint process of writing art songs.
Composer and singer Sol-i So will perform Pansori Simcheongga, a song from the Korean musical tradition, that evening. She will be accompanied by percussionist Bo-Sung Kim. The poets Avrina Prabala-Joslin and Felipe Sáez Riquelme will read from their poems together. The multimedia composer VictorPiano will sing a selection of Chilean folk songs. In addition, pieces from the work "Retrouvailles" (2013) by the Greek composer Georges Aperghis and " Sequenza III" by Luciano Berio will be heard, performed by Svetlana Mamresheva.
