It gets colorful at the end of the year. We look back on the year with a wide variety of themes and techniques.

Paintings and prints by Skadi Engeln, Karin Grote and Cornelia Gutsche Ceramics from Berlin by Beatrice Behrens, Cornelia Gutsche and Susanne Schill, from Les Archers by Fany Gaillard and Patrick Crulis

Skadi Engeln - Painting and woodcut
Skadi Engeln shows her freshly printed multi-colored woodcuts, inspired by landscape impressions from Norway and paintings from the series Schattenspiele. In the latter, she lets the shadows of the oak tree in her summer studio in Berry/France play with her nude studies.

Cornelia Gutsche - Painting
As if on a small stage, things from reality come together; like snapshots of a story or a book, they are opened up somewhere in the middle. They are familiar, surprising and strange at the same time. In a mind game of lines, shapes, color and rhythm, they are meant to stimulate, not analyze.

Karin Grote - Sea trace reliefs, ink painting
At the end of the year, Karin Grote shows a selection of her favorite paintings. The themes are a colorful mix - people, animals, nature. A central theme is the expressive line, which can be found in all her works. The viewer gets a unique overview of her most diverse works from different years.

Beatrice Behrens - utility ceramics
Beatrice Behrens discovered her passion for designing tableware in 2017. She does not limit herself to one material, one design alone, but rather romps around in the playground of possibilities and enters into a dialogue with stoneware, porcelain, textures, shapes and colors and also lets her workpieces have their say. The result is a diverse collection of usable, high-quality tableware. From minimalism to art deco, a wide variety of design styles can be found. Her ceramic objects not only decorate the room, but also integrate the joy of artistic craftsmanship into everyday life.

Cornelia Gutsche, Dörte Thiessen
A draughtswoman, Cornelia Gutsche, and a potter, Dörte Thiessen, meet. The result is an exciting and enjoyable collaboration. Turning, shaping, drawing, carving, scratching - glazing together. Images spread out on the surface of the vessels. Playfully lined up forms become spaces, figures and other creatures. The image can never be grasped at a glance; the vessel must be turned to read it, like a narrative whose beginning and end intertwine.

Susanne Schill - Ceramics
Her focus is on drawing, clay and plaster, ceramic vessel sculptures, especially bowls and pairs of vases. As a continuation of this, photographic stagings, light and shadow, spatial interpretations with religious themes. Since 2017 also outdoor installations with semi-transparent cloths, photography and video. In terms of content, she deals with being human in general, the relationship to oneself and a counterpart.

Fany G. - ceramic sculptures
Since her childhood, Fany G has been attracted to working with clay, which “liberated her expression”. She trained and graduated from the Ecole d'Art Technique Céramique in Sèvre and l'Ecole d'Art Appliqué Duperré in Paris (les Beaux Arts). She taught ceramics for 15 years and continued her training with experienced ceramists in Paris and the Drôme. Lives and works in Les Archers, Berry. Her raku and metal sculptures are inspired by the surrounding fauna and flora with a characteristic touch of humor and fantasy. Her work seems to spring from a phantasmagorical universe, populated by animals, insects and flowers in astonishing colors. Through her work, Fans G. tries above all to communicate emotions “that come from this beautiful matter itself!”

Patrick Crulis studied at the Lycée de Sèvres with Andrée Hirlet, and at the “Beaux Arts de Paris” academy with Christian Boltanski. He taught fine arts and deepened his painting in Paris, before settling in the center of France (Les Archers, Berry) and devoting himself solely to sculpture and ceramics. He has received numerous prizes and his works are included in many collections in France and abroad. He is presenting here his gestural utilitarian ceramics.
