Our Father- the oldest Christian prayer in time and the world. A cappella works from five centuries in seven languages by Gallus, Homilius, Verdi, Rheinberger, Duruflé, Rheinberger, Dubra and others.
The seven petitions that make up the Lord's Prayer summarize the fundamentals of the Christian faith. At the center is the request for forgiveness - and for the ability to forgive oneself: "And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. In the face of war, catastrophes, and political confusion and vanity, this petition seems frighteningly topical once again.
Ten composers from five centuries put the text in entirely different lights.
- Hugo-Distler-Choir Berlin, conductor Stefan Schuck
- Jakob Ahles, baritone
- Andrea Marie Baiocchi, piano
