All people are equal in dignity, freedom and rights. With this principle and the catalog of rights based on it for all areas of life, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has claimed global validity for 75 years.
Whether protection from torture or on the run, freedom of expression, the right to work and protection from poverty or sexual and reproductive self-determination: human rights should not only apply in every country, but also permeate all of life and offer universal protection against tyranny, oppression and exploitation.
The international conference on the 75th anniversary of the Declaration will provide a forum to discuss challenges in enforcing human rights and to strengthen human rights work for the future.
