Guided Tour through the Exhibition in English

Eighteen Jewish women and children take disposable cameras in their hands and document their view of Berlin – the city to which they rescued themselves from today‘s war in Ukraine. Over 90 photographs show private Berlin moments and pose questions about Jewish visibility in urban space.

The personal texts of the photographers reveal their own understanding of concepts such as flight, migration and evacuation. In their works, processes of empowerment and self-rooting become tangible - as strategies of participation in the city. In the exhibition THROUGH OUR LENS, the photographers show their own perspectives on their situation. The exhibition offers an alternative beyond the media images of suffering and destruction that shape our perception of Ukrainian refugees.

The visitors are also invited to contribute to the common cityscape – the mental map of Berlin.
