At this concert, the audience can expect a wide range of choral music from East Germany, Eastern Europe and even the Far East. The diversity is made clear by the presence of almost all generations on stage as well as the repertoire of the three East Berlin choirs, which master songs from different eras, regions and genres.

The selection of the program reflects the ensembles' connections to their programmatic focus. For example, the songs of the East German composer Gunter Erdmann are part of the tradition of the Clara Schumann Children's and Youth Choir. Other pieces were inspired by concert tours and festivals in Eastern Europe. The Jazz'n'Oldies have arranged some Eastern rock ballads for choir and band. The Lichtenberg chamber choir Piekfeine Tones presents arrangements that emerged from a joint project with Vietnamese musicians.

Underlying all of them is the hope of a new beginning, linked to the rising of the sun.
