"If you want to write about the cruelty of reality, it can't be realistic," says The Creepy Girl. And thus gives its author a direction that is a clever survival strategy.
Pat To Yan, who shapes the experimental Hong Kong theater scene as a director and author, now lives in Berlin. Science fiction and a kind of magical realism merge in his theater texts to create a very unique world that tells of dying, living and surviving in politically repressive systems. It is populated by mythologically inspired and allegorical figures, between humans and animals, between humans and AI. Despite all the darkness, sometimes something like love flashes between them and the belief that our world remains changeable towards freedom.
Together with the sound designer Eric Wong, the set designer Davide Raiola and the ensemble, Pat To Yan presents his book, in which all three pieces of his universal China trilogy are combined.
