Public guided tour of the special exhibition

Restore or redesign? How should we deal with a lost masterpiece? During the 45-minute tour, participants will get an overview of the debate in West Berlin about the destroyed 18th-century ceiling painting and learn about the people involved, their ideas and the different artistic designs. The tour ends under the modern ceiling painting in the White Hall, executed by the artist Hann Trier in 1972.

The decision for a modern work in the middle of a historically designed room was not without consequences. Later, other contemporary artists became active in the reconstruction of Charlottenburg Palace. Their works are also the subject of the guided tour.
