"Now grows together what belongs together". This quote from Willy Brandt has become a household word for the unification process. On October 3, 1990, the former Chancellor stood in the official gallery at the ceremony in front of the Berlin Reichstag building at midnight alongside Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker, Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl and Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher. With tears in his eyes, he experienced the realization of his life's work: the unity of Germany.
What part Willy Brandt's Eastern and German policy played in overcoming German division and why this was only imaginable for him in a European context is explained in the exhibition tour.
The public tour lasts approximately 60 minutes. Free & no registration necessary.
