Festival of Music of the Iranian Diaspora

The festival Klangteppich V presents four world premieres with folk music, heavy metal, sound art and contemporary music on June 8 and 9 at Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg. 14 artists with immigration biographies from Iran, Azerbaijan, the US and Berlin are involved.

The project liminal practice deals with strings, voices and space, in the encounter of self-made harps with an Iranian harp and vocals. In Loom, a sound artist and a weaver use her loom to create a performance about the connections between the sense of touch and textiles.

In Ilyad, a quartet dedicates itself to the songs of Lurs - an ethnic minority in Iran, which deal with love longing and resistance.

Metal Theatre: Aftermath celebrates heavy metal as intoxication and immersion in riffs, lyrics and opulent presence.

The Klangteppich magazine is published in cooperation with the platform Norient, with texts by artists and other authors from the Iranian diaspora.

Supported by the Capital Cultural Fund.
