The 19th Art Salon presents four very different artistic positions.

Paintings by Skadi Engeln, Karin Grote and Christine Keruth, ceramic sculptures by Patrick Crulis, ceramics from Berlin by Beatrice Behrens, Cornelia Gutsche and Susanne Schill, from Les Archers by Fany Gaillard

Skadi Engeln - Painting
Buddhism is, among other things, about clarifying oneself and one's perception and thus contributing less to discord in the world. When I look at my cat: I might want to come back as a German house cat. Who knows, maybe...
Skadi Engeln studied sculpture with Robert van de Laar and painting with Michael Kohr and Hermanus Westendorp at the Ottersberg University of Applied Sciences. She lives and works in Berlin and France.

Karin Grote - ink painting
For this year's 19th Kunstsalon, Karin Grote is showing impressions of her trip to Japan in October 2024, venturing into new territory for her - the large format.
Karin Grote studied art and design in Hanover, specializing in calligraphy and etching.

Christine Keruth - painting / silverpoint drawing
The first series of works arose from the deeply rooted idea of a mysterious, mystical Norway. Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite played a formative role in this.
Christine Keruth lives and works in Berlin and Potsdam. She studied painting at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. In 2021, she completed her doctorate on an interdisciplinary research topic in 21st century art.

Patrick Crulis - Unspeakable - ceramic sculpture
Patrick Crulis' sculptures play with contrasts and tensions in form and color, between pathos and burlesque, and often emphasize the anthropomorphic character of his subjects. In the 19th Kunstsalon he presents his gesturally influenced utility ceramics.
Patrick Crulis studied at the Lycée de Sèvres with Andrée Hirlet, and at the “Beaux Arts de Paris” academy with Christian Boltanski. He taught fine arts and deepened his painting in Paris, before settling in the center of France (Les Archers, Berry) and devoting himself solely to sculpture and ceramics.

Beatrice Behrens - Ceramics for everyday use
Beatrice Behrens discovered her passion for designing tableware in 2017. She does not limit herself to one material, one design alone, but rather romps around in the playground of possibilities and enters into a dialogue with stoneware, porcelain, textures, shapes and colors, while also letting her workpieces have their say. The result is a diverse collection of usable, high-quality tableware.

Cornelia Gutsche
A draughtswoman, Cornelia Gutsche, and a potter, Dörte Thiessen, meet. The result is an exciting and enjoyable collaboration. Turning, shaping, drawing, carving, scratching - glazing together. Images spread out on the surface of the vessels. Playfully lined up forms become spaces, figures and other creatures. The image can never be grasped at a glance; the vessel must be turned to read it, like a narrative whose beginning and end intertwine.

Fany G. - Ceramic sculptures
Since her childhood, Fany G has been attracted to working with clay, which “liberated her expression”. She trained and graduated from the Ecole d'Art Technique Céramique in Sèvre and l'Ecole d'Art Appliqué Duperré in Paris (les Beaux Arts). She taught ceramics for 15 years and continued her training in exchange with experienced ceramists in Paris and in the Drôme. Fany G. lives and works in Les Archers, Berry.
Her raku and metal sculptures are inspired by the surrounding fauna and flora with a characteristic touch of humor and fantasy.
