OTNIEL TASMAN is a young choreographer and Lengger, a gender-fluid traditional arts practitioner belonging to the Banyumas tradition. TASMAN is committed to gender equity and exploring the wisdom of the Lengger tradition which has fluid gender values that align with the philosophy and spirituality of living in the Banyumas tradition.

KEY VISUAL SAVVY MEETS PARANORMA
In addition to choreographing dance works with traditional and contemporary approaches, the Jagad Lengger Festival was established as a socio-cultural choreographic practice to cultivate, advance and excavate the wisdom of the Banyumas Lengger tradition, as well as to produce and promote local knowledge that is alive and lived in the Banyumas Lengger community.
The book “Lengger is my religion”, written in 2020-2021 and published in 2021, is one of the efforts to share the experiences of living as a Lengger and to engage in dialogue with the public about body, gender, tradition and spirituality.
